PURPOSES AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER

As an important unit of the healthcare system, the Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) provides information to patients with severe mental illnesses and their families, delivers outpatient treatment and follow-up care, and employs rehabilitation, psychoeducation, occupational therapy, group and individual therapy to enhance patients’ skills for living within the community. Through regular home visits, the center monitors patients in their own environments, serving as the main coordinator and control center for services provided to individuals with severe mental disorders.

PATIENT ADMISSION CRITERIA AND PROCEDURES

  • Individuals who require treatment and psychosocial support due to psychosis or other severe mental disorders, or whose functionality is significantly impaired because of a severe mental illness, who have been previously hospitalized or are at risk of hospitalization, are accepted for treatment by the CMHC.

  • Referrals are accepted from family physicians, primary healthcare centers, hospital psychiatry departments, and social care institutions.

  • Direct applications from patients and their families are also accepted.

  • A psychiatrist evaluates whether the patient meets the admission criteria.
