About the Clinic
Forensic medicine is a branch of medical science that provides the legal system with necessary evidence and information in cases involving unresolved crimes or legal disputes that contain medical elements. It assists courts by preparing reports on medical evidence. Forensic medicine is especially consulted in critical cases such as injury, homicide, suicide, sexual assault, and physical abuse.
Key responsibilities of our forensic medicine unit include:
Performing medical examinations upon entry to and discharge from custody, and sending discharge reports to the relevant prosecutor’s office
Collecting and securely transferring biological samples (such as blood, hair, nails, and saliva) for DNA analysis in response to court orders
Preparing expert reports upon individual requests
Issuing official forensic reports for patients referred by court, prosecution offices, or police departments through formal correspondence
Identifying hospital visit records upon request from courts, prosecutor’s offices, or individuals through petitions
Requesting relevant treatment documents from clinical departments after verifying hospital admission records
Corresponding with clinical departments and forwarding their responses to the appropriate legal authorities, including envelope preparation and mailing
Logging completed correspondences into our unit’s official registry and archiving them in the forensic archive according to date and reference number
