About the Clinic

In the Medical Pathology Clinic, biopsy and cytology samples taken from all types of organs, as well as surgical and amputation specimens, are examined.

Biopsy: Surgical specimens, incisional and excisional biopsies, endoscopic biopsies, punch biopsies, tru-cut biopsies, etc.

Cytology: Cervical smears (liquid-based cytology), fine-needle aspiration cytology, cerebrospinal fluid, ascitic fluid, aspiration materials, cell blocks, imprints, etc.

Our clinic is equipped with:

  • 2 tissue processing devices

  • 2 frozen section devices

  • 1 fully automated immunohistochemistry device

  • 1 automatic slide coverslipper

  • 1 automatic staining device

  • 2 tissue embedding devices

  • 1 set of cytological thin-layer spreading devices

  • 2 centrifuges

  • 4 microtomes

  • 2 gross dissection stations

  • 12 microscopes

Specimens sent to the Medical Pathology Clinic are evaluated using routine methods, and when necessary, with immunohistochemistry and special staining techniques. In addition, frozen section analysis and medical autopsy services are also provided in our laboratory.
